Without Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal for Friday’s game against the Sacramento Kings, the Suns will be playing with just Devin Booker.
Also out for at least the next game is Grayson Allen, who started recently due to a groin injury.
After Suns forward Kevin Durant damaged his ankle in Tuesday’s loss to the Lakers, head coach Frank Vogel informed media on Thursday that Durant will miss the rest of the season. Additionally, Vogel stated that Bradley Beal was a “full participant” in Thursday’s practice, although he is still out.
After the team benched him due to a persistent back problem, Beal will be reevaluated in three weeks, which will conclude on Friday. Despite seeing action in just three games, he has contributed 17.3 ppg and 3.7 apg.
Among the Suns’ three superstars, the 35-year-old Durant has missed the fewest games (12-9) due to injury.
Durant, despite playing with an injured ankle, scored 31 points (12 for 17) in 39 minutes against the Lakers, but Phoenix still lost in the NBA In-Season Tournament.
We were thinking about getting rid of him. His movements were lackluster at best… Vogel brought up the fact that for the past two weeks, we’ve had to play a couple games with a player who isn’t fully healthy—in this case, Booker—because he had an ankle sprain last week while playing against the Toronto Raptors, which resulted in him missing one game.
The Suns will host the Kings at Footprint Center on Friday at 7 p.m. MST following their loss to Los Angeles and elimination from the in-season playoffs.
