Suns Charities and Phoenix Muralist Unite: Crafting the Exclusive 2022-23 Devin Booker ‘Starting Five’ Class Sweatshirt

An exclusive hooded sweatshirt paying tribute to Devin Booker’s starting five for the 2022–2023 season was created in collaboration between the Phoenix Suns Charities and Sentrock, a local muralist, street artist, and designer. The announcement was made on Thursday.

Established in 2019, Booker’s Starting Five philanthropy programme has pledged $2.5 million annually to Phoenix Suns Charities. Each year, they distribute $200,000 to five separate nonprofits.

With the Suns’ victory over the Hornets on Wednesday, Booker stated, “It’s one of the most exciting things that I’m a part of, I’d say mostly because we’re 20 organisations in now, all nonprofits here in Arizona.”

We’re always trying to find new methods to shock our fans, but nothing beats doing it on their own court in front of their loved ones.

Children and their families in Arizona who are struggling financially are the target audience for this programme.

In its second year, Booker introduced a collection of limited edition gear to further engage artists and fans in the programme. The Phoenix Suns’ charitable endeavours will get a cut of every transaction.

The sweatshirt showcases the artwork of Sentrock’s unique character, Bird City Saint. The figure symbolises a youthful individual who dreams of reaching their maximum potential and reaching new heights. The artist spent time in Mexican American neighbourhoods perfecting his graffiti style.

To be employed by the institution I watched grow up is something I’ve always fantasized about. Sentrock explained, “I grew up in the ’90s watching Barkley and KJ, so when I received the call, I knew I had to give it my best. To me, the five characters in the Starting Five logo represent a united front.

My lifelong dream has always been to get a job with the same organisation that I admired as a child. “I knew I had to give it my best when I received the call,” Sentrock added, echoing his childhood memory of watching Barkley and KJ on TV in the 1990s. The Starting Five logo, with its five figures, strikes me as a symbol of solidarity.

A limited number of Starting Five sweatshirts are now available at the Phoenix Charities online store.
