According to MARCA, Antonio Rudiger, a back for Real Madrid, probably won’t play in the last game of the UEFA Champions League group stage against Union Berlin.
The news source also says that Nacho will probably play instead of the German defender who started the recent 1-1 draw with Real Betis.
Rudiger has played more than 1700 minutes for Real Madrid this season in 20 games across all categories. Because of this, Carlo Ancelotti was smart to rest him for the Champions League game. It doesn’t matter though, because Real Madrid has already moved on to the next round.
He is a good leader for his team.
Rudiger has become the most important player in Real Madrid’s defense this season since Eder Militao has been out.
Rudiger’s influence goes beyond his great play on the field and into the locker room. During the game against Real Betis at the Benito Villamarin, something memorable took place that shows this.
Rudiger showed that he was a leader by cutting off Jude Bellingham’s happiness. He did this to keep the team on task and put out a possible fire.
The German went up to the judge and kept things in order, even though he wasn’t wearing the captain’s shirt. This could have been a problem after the Englishman scored.
It happened right after Bellingham scored the first goal in the 53rd minute. The player kissed someone on purpose, and it turned out to be a Betis fan.
Rudiger quickly put out the fire when he saw one. This showed how good he is at defense on the field and how captain-like he is off it.
So far this season, many things have shown how important Rudiger is to the team and how well he leads them. The German has made sure that no one has noticed that Eder Militao is not there.
The back has played more than 360 minutes in each of Madrid’s last four games, though, so he will likely need some time off.
So, Ancelotti is likely to pick Nacho, who has played a lot more this season than last and is currently leading the club in goals scored.
