Today, the NBA unveiled the inaugural All-NBA In-Season Tournament Team.
Kevin Durant averaged a remarkable 34.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 60.9 field goal percentage, and 69.6 three-point percentage.
After finishing third in their group, the Suns advanced to the quarterfinals, where they were ousted by the Los Angeles Lakers. They had a point differential of plus-34.
I can get behind the decision to select players for the All-Tournament Team regardless of position, as opposed to the regular-season All-NBA teams.
The esteemed and extremely significant (cough cough) list now includes Kevin Durant in addition to Giannis Antetokounmpo, Anthony Davis, Tyreke Evans, and LeBron James.
It resulted in more exciting regular-season basketball, and the In-Season Tournament had its share of great moments, so count me in. Although I had my doubts about the event at first, I’m now a believer after witnessing the participants’ enthusiasm.
The anticipation and buzz surrounding an all-around successful “IST” should be maintained for many more years by capitalizing on its momentum. For instance, seeing Tyrese Haliburton and the Indiana Pacers climb the ladder was entertaining.
