Warriors’ Woes Continue: Draymond Green Ejected in Latest Collapse Against Phoenix Suns

The 119-116 loss against the Phoenix Suns was the thirteenth setback for the Warriors this season, and it looked just like the others.

Without Kevin Durant, the Suns stormed to a 13-point lead and pounded the Warriors into submission in the fourth quarter, just after Draymond Green’s third expulsion of the season, at Footprint Center on Tuesday night.

Steph Curry missed the fadeaway three-point try in the final nine seconds, giving the Warriors an opportunity to tie the game. With a new record of 10-13 for the year, Golden State keeps falling below.500.

One positive aspect was there. A 15-2 run was started in the second quarter by a lineup that included Klay Thompson, Chris Paul, Dario Saric, Jonathan Kuminga, and Brandin Podziemski. Upon starters’ substitutions and Suns’ Devin Booker’s return to the game, the lead was reduced to three points at halftime.

Podziemski and Kuminga replaced Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney, respectively, in Kerr’s normal starting five for the second half. Adding extra complexity to the rotation alterations was Green’s Flagrant 2 and dismissal for wildly attacking Jusuf Nurkic in the middle of the third quarter.

Things fell apart when Green was not there. Despite having a poor shooting night, Curry led the team with 24 points, shooting 4-for-15 from outside the arc. In his fifteen minutes of action, Andrew Wiggins was minus-19.

The Warriors will play their final game of the road trip in Los Angeles, where they will meet the Clippers for the third game in as many weeks. After that, they’ll play the Nets at home before heading to Portland to face the Trail Blazers on the road the following Sunday.
