The Warriors lost to the Phoenix Suns 119โ116. It was their thirteenth loss this season, and it looked a lot like the others.
Without Kevin Durant, the Suns jumped out to a 13-point lead and dominated the Warriors in the fourth quarter, right after Draymond Green was hit with his third suspension of the season. The game happened at Footprint Center on Tuesday night.
In the last nine seconds, Steph Curry missed a fadeaway three-point attempt, which would have tied the game. Golden State’s record keeps going below.500 as it now stands at 10-13 for the year.
There was one good thing about it. In the second quarter, Klay Thompson, Chris Paul, Dario Saric, Jonathan Kuminga, and Brandin Podziemski led the team on a 15-2 run. The lead was cut to three points at halftime when players were taken off and Devin Booker came back into the game for the Suns.
Jonathan Kuminga jumps high to dunk the ball.
In Kerr’s normal starting five for the second half, Podziemski and Kuminga came in for Andrew Wiggins and Kevon Looney, respectively. Green was given a Flagrant 2 and sent off for violently hitting Jusuf Nurkic in the middle of the third quarter, which made the changes to the rotation even more complicated.
When Green was not there, things went badly. Curry scored 24 points, even though he did not shoot well (4 of 15 from beyond the line). For the game, he led the team. Andrew Wiggins had a minus-19 rating in his fifteen minutes of play.
In Los Angeles, the Warriors will play their last game of the road trip. It will be their third game in as many weeks against the Clippers. After that, they will play the Nets at home. The next Sunday, they will go to Portland to play the Trail Blazers on the road.
