Suns against. Warriors: Draymond Green ejected

With 8 minutes and 23 seconds left in the third quarter, big man Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors was called for a foul on Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic. Green swung around and touched Nurkic.

Review showed that Green had punched Nurkic, which resulted in a technical foul and Green’s removal from the game.

This won’t be Green’s final dismissal for an act like this, considering his reputation for a long history of plays that are identical to this one. Green is regarded by many as a “firty” player in the NBA.

Green departed the field after 17 minutes. He shot 1-3 from the field and scored two points in addition to his two assists and two rebounds.

Before the game, Suns coach Frank Vogel had nothing but praise for Green:

“All of the above: attitude, intelligence, toughness, and edge. He is not only a legend on that side of the ball, but his contributions as the quarterback for their offense are also mostly overlooked. He is one of their most versatile players.

In as many Suns-Warriors games in Phoenix as there have been, this is the second player to be ejected; the last one was Chris Paul, who was thrown out minutes into the prior contest.

The Warriors led 70-66 at the time of publication in the third quarter.
