How the NBA’s ‘Greek Freak’ Makes and Spends His Millions: From Lucrative Brand Deals with Nike and Breitling to a Collection of Rolex Watches and BMW Cars

The seven-time All-Star player inked a new three-year contract with the Bucks in October; the US$177 million agreement will start in 2025 and add even more value to his already enormous net worth.

The NBA player began from modest beginnings as the kid of Nigerian immigrants living in Greece, but today he has an amazing property portfolio, an excellent automobile collection, and he also gives back.

One of the world’s greatest basketball players, Giannis Antetokounmpo is also rapidly rising to the position of richest.

Before turning thirty, the 28-year-old Milwaukee Bucks player, also referred to as “The Greek Freak,” had already amassed an astounding list of accomplishments. In addition to winning his first championship ring and Finals MVP honors in 2021, he earned back-to-back NBA MVP titles in 2019 and 2020, seven All-Star selections over his ten seasons in the league.

Antetokounmpo earns and spends his millions in the ways shown below.

He used multiple lucrative NBA contracts to play his way into generational fortune.

According to Spotrac, Antetokounmpo inked a US$100 million contract deal to stay in Milwaukee for the following four years prior to the 2016–17 NBA season. He chose to stay in Wisconsin once more and accepted another extension before that agreement ended in 2021.According to the same source, this time around’s contract was worth an incredible US$228 million spread over five years, making it the biggest NBA deal ever at the time and a major victory for the league’s smaller-market teams. In October, Antetokounmpo inked a new contract extension with the Bucks. “The Greek Freak” will remain in Milwaukee for at least the 2026–2027 season thanks to the three-year, US$177 million contract, which starts in 2025.Even just from his team’s contract, Antetokounmpo has made an incredible $234 million overall during his stay in Milwaukee.

He has variety of lucrative endorsement deals

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the NBA superstar has endorsement deals with BMO (formerly BMO Harris), Breitling, Degree, Google Pixel, JBL, Milko and T-Mobile. Forbes adds Amazon, Come Ready Foods LLC, Epic Games, Meta and Unilever to his growing list of sponsors.

The crown jewel of Antetokounmpo’s endorsement portfolio is his massive deal with Nike, which includes a successful signature shoe line. He earns around US$10 million annually from the sportswear giant, per Forbes.

Antetokounmpo’s earnings from the Bucks alone would qualify as generational wealth. So too would his similarly staggering sum from sponsorships.

Even still, the basketball superstar has taken steps to grow the pot further. He’s made a series of investments across a variety of sectors – some of which he’s gone in on alongside his brothers via their shared company, Ante Inc.

Some of Antetokounmpo’s biggest splurges to this point have been on property. He owns a US$1.8 million home in River Hills, Wisconsin.

In 2022, Antetokounmpo and his brother, Thanasi, bought matching homes at Costa Navarino Residences, per the luxury beachside resort’s blog. Located in the Peloponnese region of Greece, homes at Costa Navarino currently start at US$3.8 million, according to the company’s website.

Antetokounmpo once again added to his portfolio over the summer of 2023, per Greek Reporter, in the form of an US$11 million flat complex in the Psychiko suburb of Athens. The outlet suggests that the property is meant to be shared among the larger Antetokounmpo family, including his mother and brothers.

He has an impressive car collection too

Antetokounmpo also owns a BMW X5 and a Mercedes G63 AMG – two SUVs worth a combined US$270,000, per 21 Motoring. ClutchPoints also reports that he has a GMC Yukon, which he likely uses to transport his growing family.

He upped his fashion game in recent years – and loves watches

The first to admit that he is a fan of athleisure and sweats over stuffy suits and ostentatious pregame “fits” is Antetokounmpo. But as he’s become more well-known in the NBA, he’s become a little more at ease dressing up.
The seven-time All-Star mostly attributes the change to his brother Thanassis. He has a strong interest in fashion, Antetokounmpo told GQ. “He can style anything to look good and wear it.” To avoid coming across as a downer, I attempt to emulate him.
Even though many of his coworkers adore fancy clothing, Antetokounmpo may never fully embrace it, but he has discovered a passion project linked to fashion in the world of watches. A Blog to Watch claims that he has over eighty different watches in his collection.
A Rainbow Rolex Cosmograph Daytona (which some merchants price at more than US$100,000), an Audemars Piguet Offshore (worth upwards of US$20,000, per GQ), and a Daytona Rolex with a “Panda” dial (which the brand sells for US$15,000) are among the most costly pieces in his collection, according to Robb Report. Additionally, he attended the Bucks’ 2021 championship parade wearing a $15,00 Rolex Sky-Dweller.

He prioritises quality time with his family

She founded the clothing line Sincerely, Mariah in 2021.According to People, Antetokounmpo and Riddlesprigger are parents to three children: a newborn daughter named Eva Brooke and two sons named Maverick Shai and Liam.

He gives back after coming from humble beginnings

Before he was born, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s parents left for Greece. Image courtesy of Caff FoundationBorn into a family of Nigerian immigrants, Antetokounmpo was raised in the capital city of Greece as a second-class citizen. According to The New York Times, he and his brothers shared a single pair of trainers and were “perpetually vulnerable to attacks by racist militants” in addition to frequently facing “threats of deportation” while they also sold random items to bystanders on the streets to get money for food.It follows that Antetokounmpo’s desire to give back is understandable given his wealth of professional basketball experiences. In order to help impoverished people in the US, Greece, and Nigeria have the same possibilities to rise above their station as the Antetokounmpo family did, he and his brothers formed the Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation.Giannis Antetokounmpo has a philanthropic side to him. The NBA player donates to charities other than the one run by his family. According to OSDB Sports, he serves as an international ambassador for The Hellenic Institute, a Greek humanitarian aid organization, and collaborates with the Milwaukee Bucks Foundation on a regular basis to collect money for various causes.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Antetokounmpo gave $100,000 during the pandemic’s peak to assist the staff of the Bucks’ home venue in making ends meet. According to Money Smart Athlete Blog, he has organized basketball academies for athletes from disadvantaged backgrounds, volunteered at food drives, and done a great deal more to support the areas that are dear to his heart.
