Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat is still going strong when it comes to helping others, despite his injury. To bring attention to the issue of childhood hunger in the United States, Butler paid a visit to Phoenix Military Academy on Wednesday.
Butler, who is now nursing a strained left elbow, issued a challenge to the junior class, suggesting that they try their hand at free throw shooting as a fundraiser for the school. He promised to give $50 for every free throw attempted. Even though the juniors won the wager, Butler wasn’t finished yet.
Butler reportedly promised to give $10,000 if he could shoot a three-pointer with just one hand, as reported on the school’s website. He then extended an invitation to youngster Jabaree White, stating that he would match his donation up to $10,000 upon his success.
Not long after that, he pledged to provide $10,000 to the school if he could just make a 3-point shot with his dominant hand. He proceeded to challenge junior Jabaree White to a $10,000 shot-match, which he effortlessly made. The class went absolutely wild when White made the shot in the first attempt, even though Butler offered to give him three chances.
Butler contributed a total of $20,000 to the institution.
