Jusuf Nurkic, the center for the Suns, was ejected from the game for the 18th time in his career after Green struck him across the face.
After his most recent ejection from a game, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green is facing a suspension that will last for an undetermined period of time.
According to Adrian Wojnarowksi of ESPN, National Basketball Association (NBA) punished Green after he punched Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic on Tuesday night and was subsequently ejected from the game.
According to ESPN, Green, Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr., and agent Rich Paul are scheduled to meet on Thursday to establish a counseling plan that will be effective in obtaining assistance for Green.
It was claimed by ESPN that the suspension was implemented with the intention of “allowing Green to take the time he might need to deal with challenges he is facing.”
Green had been ejected for the 18th time in his career, and it was his second ejection of the season. In the past, he was punished for placing Rudy Gobert, the center for the Minnesota Timberwolves, in a chokehold during a fight.
As a result of that event, Green received a five-game suspension.
The most recent incident took place during the third quarter of the Suns’ victory over the Suns, which they won 119-116. Green and Nurkic were competing for position at the time. During the time that Green was attempting to receive the ball while Nurkic was on his back, Green disapproved.
After the officials deliberated, Green turned around and slapped Nurkic with his hand. As a result, Green was removed from the match.
“I was swinging away to sell the call,” the Warriors star stated after the game. “He was pulling my hip, and I was trying to sell the call.” I was able to get in touch with him. However, I would like to apologize to Jusuf because I did not intend to hit him. As you are aware, I am not the type of person to apologize for things that I intended to do.
The events that transpired left Nurkic bewildered.
“What is going on with him, I do not know,” according to him. To speak for myself, I believe that brother is in need of assistance. I am relieved that he had not attempted to suffocate me… That was completely unrelated to basketball in any way. The only thing I am doing is attempting to play basketball out there.
Among active players, Green has the most ejections in his career, with a total of 18.
Steve Kerr, the head coach of the Warriors, expressed his recognition of Green’s significance to the club. The Warriors have won four championships with Green as a member of the team.
“We are in need of him. According to Kerr, “We need Draymond.” “He is aware of that. He has been contacted by us. The only way for him to maintain his composure and be there for his teammates is to figure out a method to do so.
