Curry’s Heroics Secure Warriors’ Victory Over Nets, 124-120

With two last-minute 3-pointers from Klay Thompson and 16 of his team-high 37 points saved for the fourth quarter, the Golden State Warriors held off the visiting Brooklyn Nets to win 124–120 on Saturday night.

The Warriors snapped a three-game losing streak behind Thompson’s 24 points in the final quarter, and four more players scored in double figures as well.

With two chances to either tie or lead in the final 1:28, Cam Thomas scored a game-high 41 points to lead the Nets, who lost for the third time in four games on their five-game trip.

The Nets rallied within the opening 15 minutes of the second half to grab a 99-97 lead thanks to a Mikal Bridges three-pointer. The Warriors had led by as many as 18 points in the first half.

By the time Curry took over, the Warriors were behind 103-102. He made five straight shots, including two 3-pointers, to score 12 straight Golden State points, giving the home team a 114-106 advantage.

After that, Thompson replaced Curry and scored two 3-pointers, the last of which gave Brooklyn a late rally with a 120-115 lead with 2:54 remaining.

With 2:14 remaining, Royce O’Neale’s three-pointer put the game within two points. After the Nets committed a turnover with a chance to tie, Spencer Dinwiddie missed a 3-point attempt that would have given Brooklyn a 1:28 lead.

The Nets had another opportunity to tie the game after Curry and Nic Claxton exchanged baskets, but Bridges was unable to make a driving layup. With 17.1 seconds remaining, Curry sealed the victory with an interior basket.

For the Warriors, who made 17 of their 32 3-point attempts, Curry shot 14 for 22 overall and 6 for 8 from beyond the arc.

The Warriors also had double-figure scorers in Brandin Podziemski (19), Andrew Wiggins (14), Dario Saric (12), and Jonathan Kuminga (10). Along with Chris Paul’s 11 assists, Kevon Looney contributed a team-high seven rebounds.

Thomas shot 5-for-13 from three-point range and 15-for-24 overall, missing his career-high by six points.

For the Nets, Dinwiddie (16 points, game-high 14 assists) and Claxton (19 points, game-high 12 rebounds) recorded double-doubles. Bridges (18 points), Cam Johnson (13 points), and O’Neale (11 points) round out the scoring.
