The Phoenix Suns defeated the Washington Wizards 112-108 on Sunday night as Devin Booker overcame a 16-point deficit to score 11 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter.
After missing six of his seven 3-point tries in the first three quarters, Booker made two in the fourth quarter to help the Suns overcome an eight-point deficit.
“Because I want to make every shot I take, I become upset. But you simply have to keep having fun, Booker stated. “I’ve done this for a very long time.
In addition to forcing teams to make contested mid-range shots and eliminating layups, there needs to be clear communication between players. There is firepower across the league, and you never know what may happen to a club once they take an early lead and gain momentum.
Booker got eight assists as well.
Suns coach Frank Vogel stated, “It was time for him to take over. He had a tough first three quarters.” That’s when he performs at his peak.
With 28 points, including a slam on a three-point play in the closing minute, Kevin Durant led the Suns. Nurkic had a total of 17 rebounds. While Jordan Goodwin pulled down eight rebounds and gave out six assists off the bench, Drew Eubanks scored twelve points.
Despite blowing multiple fourth-quarter leads this season, the Suns rallied this time, defeating Washington 31-19 to end a two-game losing run and maintain their 14-12 record above.500.
Durant stated, “Tonight was a step in the right direction.” “We want to improve even more by building on it.”
The Suns committed 17 turnovers and were only 7 of 31 from 3-point range.
Durant remarked of Phoenix’s first-half troubles, which saw them behind by 16 at one point, “that could be deflating to anybody.”
“We didn’t make any threes in the first half, but they seemed like easy shots,” he remarked. “We just made everything look better in the second half because we made more shots.”
With Daniel Gafford leading the way with 26 points and 17 rebounds, the Wizards fell to 4-21 and were unable to win a straight game for the first time this year. Washington has lost fifteen of its previous sixteen games until defeating Indiana on Friday night.
Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. described Gafford as “unbelievable.” “Even though he sometimes gets a battering, he never gives up. Guarding the rim and quarterbacking the defense are constants. He continued to make plays to keep us interested.
For Washington, Tyus Jones scored 22 points, while Kyle Kuzma scored 17 more before fouling out.
Bradley Beal, a former Wizard, did not play for the Suns on Friday night against New York due to a sprained right ankle. He had just made a comeback during the Suns’ most recent game, having missed the previous twelve due to a back ailment. Prior to the game, Suns head coach Frank Vogel stated that Beal’s condition should be updated on Monday.
Nassir Little got his first start of the year with Beal sidelined. After missing the previous two games due to a contusion in his right leg, Eric Gordon made a comeback to score 13 points.
