The Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks will play a big game on Monday night. Both teams are trying to make the playoffs. Tony Davis scored 41 points to help the Lakers beat the Indiana Pacers 123–109 in the title game of the In-Season Tournament on December 10th.
In their most recent game, the Knicks were thrashed by the Los Angeles Clippers (122-144), and the Lakers haven’t been great on the road either. The team just got back from a tough road trip where they lost to the Dallas Mavericks and tied with the San Antonio Spurs. Both teams have also had their fair share of illnesses and bad play, with some great moments here and there.
Anthony Davis, a power forward for the Lakers, is still in the news even though he hurt himself. Before the Lakers-Knicks game on Monday, the NBA All-Star MVP wore a black Louis Vuitton varsity jacket. The stunning Louis Vuitton jacket costs an unbelievable $6,000.
Davis has been sick a lot lately, so he hasn’t been able to play for the Lakers lately. The first Spurs game was on December 13, and he missed the second one because he sprained his ankle. He’s also having trouble with his hips and adductors.
So far, the 30-year-old has played through all of these problems. He missed only one game and then came back to beat the Knicks.
Anthony Davis told Victor Wembanyama to do something.
Anthony Davis knows what it’s like to be picked first in the NBA Draft and how exciting and stressful it can be. That’s how things were for him when he signed with the struggling New Orleans Pelicans in 2012. LeBron James, who was picked first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003, taught him how to be patient and how long it takes to turn a business around.
Tony Davis was asked about the stresses of being the first pick and the team’s public face after the Lakers lost to Dallas on Tuesday, Dec. 12. Sports World News said that he said the following:
There seems to be a lot of stress. You are the center of attention, both from the media and from any new players you may meet. You are under pressure from outside sources to do well. You will figure it out if you go in and play around. You will have both good and bad times this season.
The San Antonio Spurs picked 19-year-old superstar Victor Wembanyama with the first pick in the 2023 draft. Davis had some wise words to share with Wembanyama. Wembanyama has had a great first season. He averages 25.4 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 4.8 blocks per game. But he has also lost. His Spurs team has the worst record in the league (4-28), so he knows what it’s like to lose.
He has a lot of advanced skills. You shouldn’t worry too much about the pressure from other people, though. Davis told the players that they should know what their team expects of them.
What Anthony Davis would tell young Wembanyama is to chill out and enjoy learning. Davis is well aware of the fact that even the best players in the league, like LeBron James, didn’t make the playoffs their first year. A bright future lay ahead of Wembanyama, so he told him to take things slowly and steadily. He also had great things to say about Wembanyama’s skills, saying that the player has an odd mix of height, intelligence, and athleticism.
