PONY PRINCE: Nikola Jokić blooper footage from commercial shoot had NBA fans rolling

Nuggets center Nikola Jokić is the basketball equivalent of a five-tool player, capable of passing, shooting, defending and performing just about any basketball-related skill you can imagine at an elite level.

On Tuesday, NBA fans finally got familiar with yet another skill Jokić has within him-acting. Videos circulated on social media of Jokić leading a new ad campaign for Hotels.com alongside teammate Peyton Watson.

The comical ads play off of Jokić’s love of horses, and his relationship with Watson to delightful results. But the real gold, as always, was left in the bloopers.

Those are both good, especially when Jokic tells Watson the animal in the first one is in fact a pony. The bit about the bench in the second commercial is great as well, considering Watson is still earning his minutes.

Jokic feeding a pony out of his hand in a hotel lobby and lounging in a cabana by the pool is maybe the most realistic ad campaign featuring a star athlete in history. His dry humor also shines through (as does Watson’s) in the ads, and thankfully there is also a blooper reel that includes the pony trying to eat Jokic’s fingers, pooping while he holds onto the leash, and Jokic cursing himself out for forgetting his lines.

Jokic is the best basketball player on Earth, and could probably do as many national spots as he wants. However, he generally keeps a low profile and isn’t interested in the limelight.

We’ll see where these commercials end up airing, but you can bet if they make a big ESPN or TNT broadcast, they’ll go viral.

Good for Jokic for doing the ads, and cashing some of the many endorsement checks he deserves.

While the finished advertisements showed that Jokić could soon become an elite pitchman like many of his NBA counterparts, the bloopers showed that he still might need a bit of practice in front of the camera.

Fans loved the light-hearted side that Jokić was able to show in the campaign.
