Tuesday night at Chase Centre, the underdog Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics 132-126 thanks to a game-winning, overtime 3-pointer from Steph Curry. The Warriors are now 13–14 on the year after winning three straight games.
Curry scored six points in the overtime period and finished with 33 points overall on 6-of-11 shooting from three. He had three against him by halftime and was in considerable foul trouble during the game. With six minutes left in the third quarter, Jaylen Brown had already committed his fifth personal foul after getting into a lot of physical contact with Curry early on. The Celtics were up 13 at that point, and Cory Joseph came off the bench to take Curry’s spot.
Curry came back to the game to begin the fourth quarter, and for the next twenty-three minutes, he did not commit a foul, which set the stage for the comeback. In the third quarter, the Celtics’ lead reached seventeen points. In the end, Kuminga scored 17 points and seven rebounds, while Thompson finished with 24 points and six threes.
Jordan Poole and the Washington Wizards return to town on Friday, as the Warriors resume their three-game home stand. Next, Golden State hosts the Portland Trail Blazers before travelling to Denver to play the Nuggets on Christmas.
