Due to an ungainly landing beneath the basket that resulted in a rolled ankle, Los Angeles Lakers star centre Anthony Davis was forced to exit the team’s current road game against the Chicago Bulls at 4:17 in the third quarter.
The Lakers are behind Chicago 84-75 as the third session draws to a close.
With 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and a steal thus far in 26:55, Davis has scored 14 points on 5 of 12 field goals and 4 of 7 three-pointers.
It’s not like the star player who gets hurt all the time has never experienced a horrifying mid-game injury before.
My previous employer at Blog-A-Bull, your friendly Bulls Blogger, mockingly calls Chicago native Anthony Davis “Day-To-Day” Davis. Over the past few seasons—basically ever since Los Angeles won the championship in 2020—the 6’10” big man has missed a lot of games, but he has been generally healthy this season.
The Brow appears to hurt himself around half the time he lands, to be honest. But, so far this year at least, the Kentucky product has been able to grind through whatever the problem may be. He was a game-time decision even today due to what was termed as a left ankle sprain/bone bruise. Amazingly, the 30-year-old has only missed one game this season because of an injury, which occurred a week ago today in a blowout defeat to the struggling San Antonio Spurs.
Despite rarely making threes, Davis is averaging 24.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, and three assists per game this season on a shooting split of.549/.368/820 in an effort to make his first All-Star team in three years. Not bad for “Day-To-Day” Davis. Of course, a protracted absence could exclude such an appearance.
