The last thing fans want is for one of their team’s best players to get hurt in a game that is based on stars. Fans of the Los Angeles Lakers were heartbroken on Thursday night when they saw star big man Anthony Davis go down with what looked like a terrible injury. Davis is used to being hurt and getting better.
After making a great defensive play on Coby White and blocking the Bulls guard’s shot, the Lakers star rolled his ankle as he ran into the area where the ball wasn’t allowed. Davis’ left lower leg seemed to touch White’s hand, which is what caused him to twist his ankle.
After about three plays, Anthony Davis left the court, and the Lakers replaced him with Rui Hachimura. This made Lakers fans very angry; they didn’t understand why head coach Darvin Ham had to wait so long to take out someone who had just taken a hard hit.
One fan wrote, “AD hurt his left ankle and couldn’t walk for two possessions. Darvin Ham called a timeout after LeBron’s turnover to take AD out. ” Wrote another: “I’m not going to blame coach Ham for the whole game because he was mostly to blame, but he is definitely to blame for you. But that non-TO at first with AD’s ankle injury was stupid and mean of him smh..” Anthony Davis seems to have hurt his ankle, but it’s good news for the Lakers that he won’t be out for long. When the fourth quarter began, the Purple and Gold were down by 12 points. He played for the first 11 minutes of the quarter before Darvin Ham finally quit because of the huge loss.
Some fans are worried about Davis’s health after he played through an injury in a regular season game in late December, even though they admire his toughness.
“Thanks AD for taking care of my sprained ankle, but I’m worried,” Lakers Nation writer Matthew Peralta wrote.
When the Lakers play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, it will be the second night of a back-to-back. Anthony Davis probably won’t play in that game to rest his ankle.
