It wasn’t long after their first loss to the Golden State Warriors that the Boston Celtics beat the Sacramento Kings 144-119. The Celtics missed a franchise-high 61 three-point shots against the Warriors, but they made 22 of 42, with Derrick White’s six being the best. In two of his last three games, White has made six or more triples.
“We were just playing the right way, getting good looks and knocking them down,” White stated. They play quickly when they go up and down, and we want to play quickly too. “The game was fun.”
As of late, White’s two-way high-level play for Boston has quickly changed the subject from White being the NBA’s most underrated player to him being an All-Star. One of the most important stories in the Green brand is how the guard has changed over the last year or so.
“I’m just trying to win games,” White said when asked if he was thinking about being named an All-Star. “That’s all I can think about at the moment.” “Just got to keep winning and see what happens.”
Kristaps Porzingis made a big impact on his return with a huge game that included 24 points, nine rebounds, six blocks, and three three-pointers.
White said of Porzingis, “I mean, he’s crazy.” “Matchup nightmare, keep the paint safe for us.” He helps us with a lot of things, so. “Having him out there is always nice.”
Since the Celtics lost to Golden State on Tuesday, White knew how important the win was. Their offence is very strong, and they will be missing two of their top six players because Jayson Tatum hurt his ankle and Al Horford had to take some time off.
Boston wants to keep going strong. The Celtics started to look like themselves during their trip to the west coast around this time last year.
“Second night of a back-to-back, two guys out, people probably make excuses of why we don’t need a win, but we had the right mindset coming into the game and came out with the right way and got a good road win.”
The Celtics will have two days off before playing the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles.
