LeBron James, who was once teammates with Dwyane Wade, was unable to pass him for the NBA record for the most victories on Christmas Day when the Los Angeles Lakers lost their game against the Boston Celtics on Monday night.
Following the game, James spoke with media and gave a frank assessment of the Lakers’ situation, comparing them to the other elite teams in the NBA.
According to James, Lakers Daily, “I don’t think we’re where we wanna be to be able to compete against the top teams.”
Even though Anthony Davis scored a game-high 40 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, the Lakers were unable to win. James scored the fewest points on a Christmas Day game in eighteen attempts with just 16 in the defeat.
Los Angeles’ season record now stands at 16–15 after the loss. Only a half-game separates the ninth-place Lakers in the Western Conference from the tenth-place Golden State Warriors. They trail the conference-leading Minnesota Timberwolves by 7.5 games, but James is worried that the present group might not have enough players to catch up.
