On April 2, 2022, Kevin Durant, the superstar player for the Brooklyn Nets and two-time NBA champion, teamed up with The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis) to commemorate the official ribbon cutting of their new Harlem headquarters. The organization’s continued goal to empower Black and Latinx adolescents in the Harlem community reached a major milestone with this historic event.
Since its founding in 2000, BroSis has been a vital source of education and mentoring for marginalised kids. At 122nd Street and Lenox Avenue, their new headquarters is a cutting-edge complex with classrooms, a computer lab, a recording studio, a rooftop basketball court, and much more. With this large facility, BroSis will be able to reach and touch even more young people in the community and provide them with vital resources and assistance.
Durant has long been a supporter of BroSis and is an outspoken champion for social justice and youth development. He doesn’t just contribute his name to the organization—he actively takes part in mentorship programmes, makes financial donations, and utilises his position to spread the word about BroSis’s important work.
Durant remarked during the ribbon-cutting ceremony, “It’s an honour to be here today celebrating the opening of this incredible new space.” Being a part of the fantastic job that BroSis is doing in this community makes me feel very proud. Young people will have a tonne of opportunity to grow, study, and realise their full potential thanks to our new headquarters.
The new offices’ opening is a credit to the commitment and labour of BroSis’s supporters, employees, and founders. It offers young people a place to thrive, study, and belong, and it serves as a light of hope for the Harlem community. With the community’s steadfast dedication and Kevin Durant’s ongoing support, BroSis is well-positioned to continue having a profound influence on many young people’s lives for many years to come.
