New player Jayson Tatum is the youngest one that Jordan Brand has signed. He has a place in the Jordan Sports group. He walks into the arena every night with a swagger that makes even the most basic clothes look beautiful. The 25-year-old from St. Louis has made the Boston Celtics one of the best teams in the NBA.

The four-time All-Star and his big smile are part of the high-flying side of Beaverton’s on-court past. They also show off how well he chooses shots and moves his feet. Tatum and the Jumpman patch have been behind one of the NBA’s most dangerous players since the beginning of his uniform trip with Kelsey Amy on the Air Jordan 34. The Jordan Tatum 2 will come out this Christmas, which is the next step in their relationship.

“Tatum walks in a lot of different ways, even loud ones because he always looks and acts cool.” We know that he likes how his shoe sounds jazzy and funk. “Even though he’s a little quieter, he likes to let the shoe speak for him to show how excited and confident he is about the game,” said Bryant Klug, Senior Footwear Designer for Jordan Sport.

The Jordan Tatum 2 builds on the efficient design language of his first shoe. It has a low-top, tongue, and trim that are similar to that shoe’s layered textile upper, as well as a smooth leather asymmetrical quarter patch and bumper. Like the Tatum 1, the Tatum 2 doesn’t have a hollowed-out bottom unit. However, it does have two textile-cushioned pods stamped on the heel and top for style and function.

The design team tried to bring out Tatum’s emotionless attitude by giving the shoe the same feel he has on the court: a foot that doesn’t feel any pressure, both literally and figuratively. “We imagined a light shoe that takes the pressure off the foot from high-pressure areas or pressure inside the shoe.” Our goal was to find a mix that was stable and controlled without giving up the great feel of being worn in. Klug said, “That’s where these big soft pods come from.”

The Jordan Sport design team looked at Tatum’s foot and found that the big toe and the middle of the foot were the places that were under the most stress. Because of this, the Tatum 1’s light frame felt better all season. Klug calls the second kind of technology a “efficiency hack” because it lets a shoe part do useful things without the support and steadiness being lost. Two interesting soft foam and fabric pods are on the outside and inside of the side walls. Right away, these feel better because the outside of the foot pushes out into the upper during every cut, step, and defensive slide. The 1 had a light TPU frame that took up room. The big foam frame, on the other hand, keeps Tatum’s foot stable while it goes in different directions.

Tatum kept telling us that he needed shoes that could move with his foot. Klug said, “His main goal is to keep the shoe on his foot during all of his footwork and get rid of those lags where the foot moves in the shoe on its own.”

This shoe was made for Tatum because he wanted to be one with it. But the Tatum 1 wasn’t very sturdy because it had a lot of ground touch foam. This meant that players couldn’t use it outside or for long runs inside. Someone told Klug and the design team that it would last a long time while they were still making it. When the third version of the Tatum 1 came out, Klug, who is in charge of Tatum’s signature line, changed the model’s base to give the toe and heel more rubber because they get a lot of use.

Junior Product Line Manager at Jordan Brand Derek Foster said, “On the Tatum 2, we looked at Jayson’s secret skill, which is how durable he is.” It’s not very nice of him to do that.

Tatum was picked for the NBA’s First and Second teams last season. He played in the most games (74) but the fewest minutes per night (just under 37). Tatum needs easy support for a whole season, and the Jordan Tatum 2 is made to give him that. The Tatum 1 was made to get the most energy back in a single game. Even so, the Tatum 2 is the smallest signature shape in the brand’s lineup right now. A men’s size 9 of it weighs just 13.05 ounces.

For extra comfort, the Tatum 2 has two cloth pods and a full-length Zoom Strobel system. It’s been this way since his first shoe. Klug says that the heel-toe shift will be much easier than on the 2022 model because the fully-fledged bottom unit will have more foam and rubber on it. The coloured cloth pods change to match the extra rubber in the tread when you walk on them.
