On Monday, December 19, sharpshooter Klay Thompson of the Warriors paid a visit to the paediatric unit of Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Centre as part of the ongoing Warriors Season of Giving project. This year, Thompson paid visits to the bedsides of numerous young boys and girls who were spending their vacations in the hospital.
“Seeing some kids here at Kaiser Permanente’s paediatric ward, hanging out with them, and trying to put a smile on their faces is great,” Thompson added. “I’m glad to be here and having a great time with them because it’s the holidays and the Season of Giving.”
Thompson entered each hospital room with a huge smile and well wishes for each little patient and their family, pulling a red wheelbarrow full with Season of Giving gifts. Thompson connected with every patient in the room, regardless of age, by sending heartfelt notes, sympathetically discussing common interests, and offering a sympathetic ear.
Patient Leandra, 16, stated, “Klay knew my name when he came into my room and asked what I wanted for Christmas, which made my day.” “Having Thompson visit us makes us smile and forget about our problems.”
Every patient that Thompson saw on Monday will be spending the Christmas in the hospital this year, and Thompson placed a strong emphasis on maintaining optimism and utilising faith and uplifting vibes to get through trying times. Thompson also gave each child a Season of Giving holiday bag and an autographed picture, courtesy of Kaiser Permanente.
Kaiser Permanente Vice President for External and Community Affairs Yvette Radford said, “We are so unbelievably proud and honoured to partner with the Warriors once again to improve the health of the communities we serve, particularly during the holiday season.” “Klay brightens and lifts our patients’ spirits when he visits them when they’re not feeling well.”
This activity is a part of the Warriors Season of Giving community outreach programme, which aims to improve the lives of Bay Area children and families by having Warriors players and coaches engage in activities throughout the holiday season.
