Due to a hamstring injury, Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant will miss his team’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. The Suns are unable to win a run of games when their Big Three are fit. Since Durant’s teammates Devin Booker and Bradley Beal missed time to start the season, the 35-year-old is now the one on the sidelines.
Booker discussed Durant’s impending absence during a Wednesday media scrum and expressed the opinion that his Suns teammate should take it easy for a spell.
According to Booker, “He’ll never say it,” according to AZ Central’s Duane Rankin. However, I believe he also needs a few games. With Brad and I both out this season, he’s got a lot on his plate.
Our role is to relieve him of a great deal of pressure. Furthermore, we don’t need him playing into the high 30 minutes every night at this stage of the season.
Durant’s decision to take a break to heal his injured hamstring makes sense. These injuries are difficult to treat and may worsen if improper care is not received. The Suns cannot afford for him to be out of the lineup for an extended period of time due to frustration.
This season, Durant has played in all but five games, averaging more than 37 minutes per night. The Suns forward has a 31.0 percent usage rate on the season and averages 29.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.0 assists.
For a player in his 17th year who has battled an Achilles ailment, Durant has a lot on his plate. On Wednesday, Durant will miss his second straight game after missing the Suns’ 2024 season opener against the Portland Trail Blazers.
