The 33-year-old star big for the Golden State Warriors was pictured celebrating LeBron James’ 39th birthday in Los Angeles, breаking his silence during his NBA suspension.
On December 30, James had a birthday celebration at Hyde Sunset in Downtown Los Angeles, and it seemed like the biggest stars in the NBA and other industries were invited. Lakers star Anthony Davis was seen with Green, who was sporting a very striking black and gold suit. Davis was dressed in cream and had an afro.
In addition to the two NBA All-Stars, guests at the lavish birthday celebration for arguably the greatest player of all time included Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z, musician 2 Chainz, actor Don Cheadle, and James’ son Bronny. TMZ released a photo of them, showing Green for the first time since his suspension being seen in public outside of basketball.
Green has been quietly serving his ban, with the exception of being seen around Chase Center for Golden State’s home games and generally being near the Warriors. Since mid-December, the outspoken and physically strong forward has been suspended for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face.
During the game, Green was battling Nurkic for position in the post during the third quarter when the former swung his arm around and struck the latter in the face with his fist. The officials determined that Green’s actions constituted a Flagrant Two foul, and he was promptly dismissed.
Since Green had already served a suspension earlier in the season for choking out Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert, the NBA decided to suspend him indefinitely. Green will also need to fulfill “certain league and team conditions” before he is allowed to play again this season.
This is only the most recent installment in Green’s notorious book of career tantrums. Due to accumulating an excessive number of flagrant foul points during the NBA Finals versus James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, Green received a one-game suspension. That series ended in the greatest collapse in NBA Finals history for the Warriors.
Notably, Green also gave a groin kιck to Steven Adams, the center for the Oklahoma City Thunder, during that same playoff run. Although Green did not receive a suspension, he was fined $25,000. Green was once more fined during the previous season for striking Jordan Poole in the face during practice, although he was not suspended. Since then, Poole was dealt to the Washingtоn Wizards.
In addition, Green’s foot on Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis’ chest during the team’s playoff run the previous season resulted in a one-game suspension. Given Green’s lengthy history of violent behavior in only the last two seasons, his most recent ban might cause him to miss as many as 12 games.
Green isn’t playing on the court right now, but it looks like he’s enjoying his time off because he was seen at James’s party. It’s unclear if Warriors head coach Steve Kerr or standout player Stephen Curry will speak with Green regarding his actions, especially given that Los Angeles and Golden State are division rivals.
