The Phoenix Suns defeated the Miami Heat on Friday night with a dominant 113-97 victory thanks to their excellent offense and defense.
The Suns got out to a quick start, leading by seven points at the end of the first quarter thanks to the play of Grayson Allen, who had 23 points at the half on seven three-pointers shot.
The defense then gave them the opportunity to draw away in the second half. Phoenix once prevented the Heat from making 15 consecutive three-pointers. After going 1–10 in the third quarter, they began the fourth quarter 0–6 from deep.
Miami was also forced to turn the ball over fifteen times against the Suns.
This is just two nights after the Suns let up 131 points to the Clippers, lighting up Footprint Center.
Due to injury, neither Kevin Durant nor Eric Gordon could play. Bradley Beal demonstrated why the Suns were so adamant on getting him to the Valley. When Beal was playing, Phoenix had a +23 minute advantage. In addition to his 25 points, he also had 9 assists and 8 rebounds.
However, Grayson Allen’s night took center stage. In addition to scoring 32 points and tying the Suns franchise record with nine made three-pointers, Allen extended his streak of 10 or more points to 12 games.
Phoenix took 42% of their team’s shots from beyond the arc.
The Suns and Memphis Grizzlies will play their final game of a six-game homestand on Sunday. Phoenix’s record has improved to 19-16 after winning five of their last six games.
