Star player for the Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo left his first game against 7’4″ French sensation Victor Wembanyama pleased.
At AT&T Center on Thursday, the Bucks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 125–121, but Wembanyama briefly outperformed Antetokounmpo.
Wembanyama scored his fifth block of the game with 24 seconds remaining in the contest when he stuffed Antetokounmpo well above the rim. The incident went viral right away, producing an image that shocked NBA fans.
The Spurs official Instagram account captioned the photo, “The block heard around the world.”
Wembanyama finished with nine rebounds, five blocks, and 27 points on 10-of-18 shooting in the game.
On Thursday, Antetokounmpo praised the rookie, saying, “He’s unbelievable.” Amazing ability. He is free to score whenever he pleases. plays appropriately. plays for the outcome. It was enjoyable to compete with him.
Since the Spurs and Bucks aren’t playing each other again this year, Antetokounmpo will have to wait to get his comeuppance above the rim.
