The Golden State Warriors are falling from such lofty heights with great anguish. Fans are disappointed after the team’s most recent 141-105 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, but Stephen Curry may be the one who is most affected by the drop.
The Warriors’ troubles are having an adverse effect on both their best player and the squad as a whole, following a season that has become an absolute nightmare.
Curry’s outstanding performance diminishing
Despite the Warriors’ inconsistent start to the season, there was one bright spot: Curry’s outstanding play. The team’s offensive was being carried entirely by the all-time great shooter.
However, even Curry’s outstanding performance has faltered in recent games. Curry scored 15 points on 4-of-13 shooting in their defeat to the Pelicans, a far cry from the high bar he has set for himself over the years.
The Warriors’ surprisingly lackluster performance against the Pelicans elicited jeers from the disgruntled spectators. Curry, the team’s public face, agrees that the team’s performance warrants the supporters’ annoyance. Curry made the open statement that, given the opportunity, he would participate in the jeering.
Curry remarked, “We’re obviously struggling.”
There’s not much to be happy about. I’m being so mean to myself. I’m mentally booing our team because of the way we’re playing, but that’s life. It is our responsibility to provide them with something positive, and we haven’t done that.”
