The Golden State Warriors produced a significant second half comeback to defeat the Chicago Bulls 140-131 on Friday night. Stephen Curry scored 15 of his 27 points and Klay Thompson scored 30 points in the fourth quarter.
Curry and Thompson got off to a poor start, missing ten of their first eleven field goals combined. However, Thompson’s five 3-pointers and 17-point performance at the half helped the Warriors build a 16-point advantage going into the fourth quarter.
In the third quarter, Curry shot 8 out of 24 from the field but provided nine assists, helping the Warriors overcome a 13-point deficit at halftime in just over five minutes. After losing their previous two games at home, Golden State’s Andrew Wiggins finished with 17 points and eight assists. 24 points were scored by Jonathan Kuminga off the bench.
Despite shooting 58.1% from the field, DeMar DeRozan led the Bulls with 39 points. Nevertheless, the Bulls lost. The Bulls are the only team that gives up the ball less frequently than the Warriors do on average, but the Warriors prevailed 12-3. Zach LaVine led the Bulls to their first loss since his injury return, tallying 25 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.
