It would be an understatement to suggest that the Golden State Warriors have had difficulty this season. The squad isn’t even qualified for the play-in event as of yet. From the club that just won a title two seasons ago, this is a long cry. But there’s hope in sight with Draymond Green’s impending return from suspension. After missing 16 games, Green is anticipated to make his way back into the starting lineup on Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
According to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, there was earlier on Sunday talk that Green might make a comeback to the starting lineup as soon as Monday against the Grizzlies. A return might also happen on Wednesday against the Utah Jazz.
Due to his suspension, Draymond Green missed a total of 12 games for the Warriors. He has since missed four additional games in an effort to get back into shape. When Green took a swipe at Jusuf Nurkic during a game against the Phoenix Suns, it was the tipping point. Earlier in the season, he had already received a five-game suspension for putting Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a headlock during a fight.
Even though Green isn’t the same player he once was, there’s no doubting his influence on the Warriors. The concern is whether he can control his feelings to avoid doing more harm than good to the squad. On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, he will face the Grizzlies in a showcase game, which will be his first opportunity to demonstrate his abilities.
With splits of 49 percent shooting from the field, a career-high 42.9 percent shooting from the three-point line, and an even better mark of 83.3 percent from the free throw line, Green is averaging 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game this season.
