This past Friday night, the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Brooklyn Nets at home by a score of 130–112.
First 12 minutes of the game, the Lakers were ahead 37–28. They got off to a great start.
The team fell apart in the third quarter and lost it 38–22 points.
Tony Davis, the NBA champion, talked to the reporters after the tough loss and told them the truth (h/t Spectrum SportsNet).
Davis: “Our defense was awful.” Mostly in the third quarter. The whole second half, but especially the third quarter. They were able to play freely once they felt confident, which made it hard for us to come back, especially when we missed shots.
