Leading Milwaukee Bucks players ‘lost faith’ in head coach Adrian Griffin, which finally resulted in his unexpected dismissal on Tuesday.

After one half of the NBA season, it’s alleged that a number of veterans, including club captain Giannis Antetokounmpo, had grown disenchanted with coach Griffin’s strategies.  

With a solid playoff position and a second-place finish in the Eastern Conference, Milwaukee will now attempt to fill the head coach position as soon as possible. 

According to Sports Illustrated, the turmoil at the top has been known about “for weeks” in NBA circles.

After serving as the Toronto Raptors’ assistant coach for five seasons, Griffin was in his first season as head coach of Milwaukee. He was appointed in June.

Milwaukee is a strong candidate to win the NBA championship in 2022.

Damian Lillard, who was signed this summer from the Portland Trail Blazers, is alleged to have had difficulty adjusting to Griffin’s system.

The Bucks are reportedly favoring veteran NBA head coach Doc Rivers to take Griffin’s job. 

Joe Prunty has been designated the interim head coach of the Bucks. The team’s next game is against the Cavaliers on Wednesday.  

Milwaukee had defeated the NBA’s bottom team, the Pistons, in its previous two meetings, but last Wednesday’s loss to Cleveland was a 40-point loss.  

The veteran-heavy Bucks don’t seem to be getting along with their new head coach after Mike Budenholzer was let go.
