‘Blatant destroy’ – Fans angry with Brook Lopez as Bucks star blocked Damian Lillard’s chance to score the final 3 points

Memphis held a nine-point lead with 49 seconds left, but consecutive 3-pointers from Malik Beasley brought the Bucks within 113-110 with 29.2 left. Milwaukee had the last possession, but a scramble at midcourt for the ball took up a lot of the remaining clock, and Lillard’s 3-pointer at the horn was short as Memphis won its second straight.

Damian Lillard and Brook Lopez run into each other on final play vs Grizzlies

“I think (Lillard) just got caught up in traffic,” Rivers said.

Milwaukee Bucks

Lillard said there was some miscommunication between he and Lopez that started the last play in a bad direction.

“We did opposite things,” Lillard said, adding: “They just made a play on it, and it was loose and we didn’t end up getting a clean look.”

The fans quickly reacted to this situation of the two Bucks players:

The first person said: “This is a blatant sabotage by Brook, there’s no way”

The second fans continue: “I was so right there thinking it was Dame time, but then again brook had other ideas”

Meanwhile, some people have difficulty understanding Lillard’s decision

Another one express: “The entire right side of the floor was open, Dame did not even need a screen to be set, he could have pivoted and powered up the right lane and let a shot go

The fourth comments: “Why would dame run right into the screen that’s on him?”

Damian Lillard’s debut season with the Milwaukee Bucks hasn’t quite gone according to plan. On Thursday night, the Bucks suffered arguably their most embarrassing loss of the 2023-24 season, as the short-handed Memphis Grizzlies beat them 113-110.

The Grizzlies were without Ja Morant, Desmond Bane, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Marcus Smart, but they still somehow managed to beat the Bucks. Lillard’s poor play also certainly played a part in that result.

The eight-time All-Star had 24 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 1 steal, but went just 7-21 from the field and 3-13 from beyond the arc. Lillard especially struggled in the fourth quarter, going 1-8 from the field, and 0-4 from three. He just hasn’t looked right for long stretches this season and, the Bucks have suffered as a result.
