Almost every NBA All-Star weekend in the last 20 years has been like the 2024 All-Star game. The best players in the league kept scoring while the defense did its best to keep up. LeBron James, the star player for the Los Angeles Lakers, wore shoes that looked like they were made by Deion Sanders during his 20th All-Star Game.
King James wore his new Nike LeBron 21s and Sanders’ Air Diamond Turf Max ’96s while he was captain of the Western All-Stars. The low-top model didn’t have James’ marks on it, but it did have Sanders’ famous triangular black and white clash and a few small gold swooshes.
Nick DePaula, a well-known sole collector, says that James wore the shoes to celebrate his “Prime Year.” This is the 39-year-old’s 21st NBA season. Sanders wore No. 21 when he played in the NFL.
Although Sanders and James have always shown respect for each other, especially since Coach Prime took over as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, this may have been the nicest thing they’ve ever done.
James scored eight points, grabbed four rebounds, and passed the ball three times as his team lost to the Eastern All-Stars 211–186.
