An already action-packed 2024 NBA All-Star Game produced perhaps the most memorable moment of the night when an embarrassing play quickly led to arguably the game’s best shot.
Midway through the third quarter, Dallas Mavericks MVP candidate Luka Doncic blew what would’ve been a highlight-reel-worthy dunk at one end before Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard picked up the rebound and hit an outlandish 51-foot three-pointer from step behind mid-court.
Lillard has the air of a guy on a quest. The Bucks star led all scorers with 33 points, shooting 12-of-20 from the field and 9-of-17 from beyond the arc, as the East led the West 160-136 after three quarters.
Doncic, meanwhile, leads the NBA in scoring per game at 34.2, but he was unsuccessful—pun intended—on the grandest stage.
Shortly after the missed dunk, he spoke with the commentary crew on TNT, where he poked fun at himself.
“I was feeling myself too much. I don’t dunk, guys,” Doncic said.
