Giannis Antetokounmpo has copped the wrath of retired NBA player and current TV personality Chandler Parsons.
Parsons wasn’t a fan of Antetokounmpo taking pride in not scouting his opponents.
“I just, in general, do not watch basketball,” Giannis said during All-Star Weekend.
“I love when I go to the game and I have no idea who I’m playing or what they do.”
Fans immediately reacted his declare:
One person said: “Preparing for opponents is a huge part of being a pro”
The second fan expressed:”This is what’s wrong with the NBA today”
The third continues: “Bro has to be trolling. No way he skipped film sessions all this time. Going in blind. lol it’s the NBA”
Another one comment: “Watching basketball and watching film are two different things. He’s not a hoops head like KD or LBJ. Did it to get his family out the mud. Only runs and dunks, doesn’t care about the craft.”
Like most talking heads. It was undeniably a weird flex by Giannis.
The Greek Freak’s statement was also vaguely reminiscent of Shaq saying, “if you’re not a top ten player, I don’t know who you are” in reference to Rui Hachimura. The big fella’s comments left fans wondering why an NBA analyst would boast about not knowing the majority of the league’s players.
Though there were no overt indications, there’s at least a potential that Giannis was making a joke about his predicament.
In any case, Parsons’ remarks serve as another warning that, given the volume of NBA podcasts and shows that are available, players will be called out as soon as they are found wanting.
