In his 21st season in the NBA, LeBron James has shown that he can keep up his high level of play. James, who is 39 years old, still wants to win titles, and the Los Angeles Lakers are still determined to do so.
Four-time champion has played in 49 of the 56 games this season, which is more proof of how well he takes care of his body to keep playing at this level. James is still very strong and powerful, so the fact that he has only missed seven games is amazing. L.A. will need that as the season comes to a close.
Kevin Durant, star of the Phoenix Suns, has had many famous fights with LeBron James. He thinks that his 20-plus-year career is the bar for greatness, as reported by Boardroom on Bleacher Report:
“If you’re 39 years old and in your 20th year, you’ve been in the league for about half your life and played against about 40% of all the players who have ever played in the league. That has to mean something.” That should be the norm. It’s great to see someone who has been through that for a long time. Not until you’ve been in the league for about 15 to 16 years do you get it. You know how hard it is to go to work every day knowing what you know and having to work with people who are new to this or don’t know as much as you do. You still get up and want to be the best friend you can be… I think that’s great, which is why I like Bron. And that I forgot about or didn’t think much of that he was excited about and loved basketball. And it’s that easy.”
Durant has been playing basketball for 16 years and knows how hard it is on the body and mind, especially when playing against James, who has been through a lot in his career, especially in the playoffs. Being a competitor of LeBron’s for a long time, Durant showing him this much respect is cool.
The fact that he has been alive for so long is amazing and plays a part in the GOAT discussion between LeBron James and Michael Jordan. No one else in the league has had a career like LeBron’s, and it probably won’t happen again.
