In their first game back from the All-Star break on February 22, the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Golden State Warriors. The next night, they beat the San Antonio Spurs 123–118, with LeBron James being the main reason why.

James was amazed by Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs’ first-year player and the No. 1 pick in the draft.

James wrote on X, which used to be Twitter, on February 23: “That kid is SPECIAL!”

 
After the game, Wembanyama had 27 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 5 blocks, and 5 steals, giving him a 55 line. In NBA history, the 7-foot-4 star is the 15th youngest player to record a 5×5 line. He did it in the fewest minutes ever.

The fastest time ever for a 5×5 game was 30 minutes and 55 seconds, which was done by Wembanyama

James told the press after the game, “He doesn’t have a ceiling; he can do whatever he wants with his career.” “Just looking at him from the outside, he seems to enjoy the game and put in the work.” It’s clear that I’m not with him every day. During his walk-off interview, James used the word “special” again to describe Wembanayma. But he also made sure to thank head coach Gregg Popovich, who is in the Hall of Fame.

 

James told ESPN’s Mike Trudell, “He has an amazing coach who will make sure he does things right and plays the game right.”

There is a lot of respect for Popovich. He was one of the best teachers ever. The most important thing is that they are one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. I also love everything about Coach Pop. It’s very important to me to be able to share the floor with him, talk to him, and be friends with him.

The shaky ankle of LeBron James “did okay” in the Lakers’ Win
James couldn’t play in the Lakers’ loss to the Warriors because of an ankle issue that has put him on the injury report all season.

 

He came back and beat the Spurs with 30 points, nine assists, seven boards, and one steal.

James said, “Felt pretty good.” “To be honest, I was more shocked by how good my wind was. But ankle sort of did okay, did okay. I was glad to go play and help my team win. That was the most important thing.”
