Steve Kerr recently signed a $35 million, two-year contract deal with the Golden State Warriors. The long-serving head coach is already nearing the conclusion of his current contract, which ends at the end of this season, when this change is made. Kerr will now represent Golden State on the sidelines till the end of the 2025–2026 season.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, it’s interesting that his new agreement expires on the same day as Stephen Curry’s current contract. Curry inked a four-year, $215 million contract in2022. He is currently in his second season of play.
Kerr has maintained the confidence of the Warriors executive office despite a mixed season. Given his prior actions, one may argue that he deserves it.
In 2015, Kerr was the Warriors’ first-year head coach when the team stormed the NBA and won its first championship in more than 40 years. After the Cleveland Cavaliers, led by LeBron James, were defeated in six games in the 2015 NBA Finals, the rivalry between the two teams began and continued for three more years.
In 2017 and 2018, Golden State won two additional championships, both of which came against the Cavaliers. In the years that followed, supporters began to count out the team after several injuries and Kevin Durant’s exit. Nevertheless, the Warriors’ performance in the 2022 postseason disproved everyone.
The club made it to the finals and upset the motivated and youthful Boston Celtics in six games after starting the campaign as the third seed.
The dynasty, now in its final years, has four titles. The Warriors fan base yet expects to see at least one more game from Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry, and the other veterans before it’s all over.
