After suffering one of the biggest blowout losses in team history, the Golden State Warriors rebounded with a 125-90 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. Golden State was playing at its highest level in weeks when Andrew Wiggins joined the Dubs starting lineup. The Warriors have moved up to ninth place in the Western Conference, surpassing the Lakers once more with their current record of 33-28.
Though it was unclear that Giannis Antetokounmpo would play, the former MVP was still able to play for the Bucks. In the first quarter of regulation, Milwaukee led by a few minutes before Wiggins and Podziemski sank consecutive three-pointers to increase their lead to ten points. The Bucks trailed throughout the remainder of regulation.
Even though Antetokounmpo had a fantastic game—23 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists—he was unable to match the Warriors’ remarkable outside shooting. Golden State made 48.7% of its three-point field goal attempts during the game. Milwaukee’s destiny was sealed in the second half by the Warriors, who shut down the Bucks defensively while only allowing 32 points to be scored.
The Dubs were happy to have Wiggins back in the game, even though his return to the starting lineup was limited to just 13 minutes. Luckily, the Warriors did not need him to make a big difference when he came back. Steph Curry had a game-high 29 points, eight assists, and five rebounds while shooting 10-for-19 from the field (6-for-10 from three).
Jonathan Kuminga finished with a personal score of 20 points on 9 of 14 field goal shooting, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Draymond Green finished with 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks. Moses Moody had a game-high +22 plus/minus in his 20 minutes of action off the bench, while Trayce Jackson-Davis scored 15 points in 15 minutes on just 8 field goals attempts.
The Warriors will face another back-to-back on Thursday, but at least they won’t have to worry about getting there. They will host the Chicago Bulls tomorrow night; tip time is scheduled for 7:00 PM Pacific.
