Giannis Antetokounmpo on Warriors heavy loss to Boston: ‘I don’t watch basketball, good job Celtics’

After Achilles issues, Giannis Antetokounmpo made his court debut, but the Milwaukee Bucks struggled away from home against Golden State.

The Golden State Warriors just suffered a 140-88 road loss to the Boston Celtics, but they bounced back with a 125-90 home victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

After experiencing some Achilles tendon issues, Giannis Antetokounmpo made his court debut, but he was unable to assist the Bucks against a resurgent Warriors team, despite his admission that he was unaware of their crushing loss to the Celtics.

“They lost? I don’t watch basketball. That’s incredible. Good job by the Celtics. Obviously, when a team like this loses, especially when it’s a winning mentality team, you know they will be ready, they will go to see the video, they will prepare in practice, and they will come out to set the tone. It makes sense because of how they started the game, played very hard, moved the ball very well, everyone got involved, they were guarding, attacking, and everyone was on the same page. So usually, when you lose by 30, 40, 50 points, in the next game, the team tries to set the tone,” Giannis said after the defeat in San Francisco.

Prior to their trip to the Chase Centre, Milwaukee enjoyed a strong run of games, winning six straight.

“At the end of the day, we have to become better. They scored 125 points, had 75 after the first six minutes of the third period. I believe we were aggressive, we were physical, we forced them to take difficult shots, and they had 5-8 points in the first few minutes. After that, the ball stopped moving, not everyone touched the ball, not everyone gave energy, our defense was not as good. It’s one game; we have played six and a half great games. We have three on this road trip; we need to go to the next one, and hopefully, be locked in, play better, move the ball better, and win the game.”

The Greek Freak wants to keep developing a relationship with Damian Lillard, his new partner in crime, despite his injury.

“I’m alright. I felt a little off throughout the last game. This year, I’m attempting to play as many games as I can. I wanted to be on the floor, try to develop a relationship with Dame and the players, even if it was my third game missing. The more games we play together, in my opinion, the better. Ultimately, though, I try not to take a chance if I don’t think I can defend myself in public,” said Antetokounmpo.
