LeBron James wasn’t with the Los Angeles Lakers when they played the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday night. That meant that Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell had to step up.
That’s exactly what they did as the Lakers fought a tough Bucks team all night and won 123–122 at Crypto.com Arena.
Davis was very important to that win. He had 22 points, 13 boards, five assists, and three blocks, and he also fought Giannis Antetokounmpo on the other end of the court.
At the end of the third quarter, Davis tried to charge Antetokounmpo, who was running down the court quickly. Davis was called for a foul, and it looked like he hurt his left shoulder during the play. Davis was able to come back into the game in the fourth and finish it, but he was playing with one arm and couldn’t do much on offense.
Davis talked about how his left shoulder felt after the game.
“Sore. Davis said, “I couldn’t move it after that, but I’ll get some treatment and see how it feels tomorrow.”
Everyone who watched the game knew Davis was in a lot of pain, but he didn’t want to use that as an excuse. He did everything he could to help his team win in the end.
“I mean, there were some plays I know I would normally make.” I believe I had a chance to get a few offensive rebounds, but my shoulder wouldn’t let me. even the Spence layup. “I didn’t mean to make an excuse,” Davis said.
“I’ll keep doing what I can to help the team win; I know that being on both ends of the court makes a difference.” I wasn’t going to let my shoulder get in the way of my play, especially in a game like this where we had a chance to win.
The next tough game is on Sunday against Rudy Gobert and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Davis’ shoulder will be watched closely in the days running up to that game.
