The Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James scored 40,000 points against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night, becoming the first player in NBA history to do so. This was another important record.
James had only nine points to score in order to meet his goal before the game. He did it with a signature spin move layup early in the second quarter.
Even though The King has been great this 2023–24 season, he has to admit that getting 40,000 points was more than he expected. Michael Malone, the head coach of the Nuggets, couldn’t help but talk poetic about what LeBron James has done in his career, even though he was on the other side of history.
Malone said, “You have to be amazed at how great things keep getting.” I don’t really care about the number.” “There are many stories of people who got a lot of attention after finishing from high school. All this “He’s the next so-and-so” talk, and they never live up to it. A scary thing about him is how he has dealt with fame and attention at such a young age to get where he is now in his work, and he doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all.
But when you look back, you have to be amazed at how long it lasts. He’s not just playing now; he’s playing well. There is no question that he will decide for himself in five or six years if I am still playing well. So is he. So, the 40,000, the records, the landmarks, the wins, and the titles amaze you.
Malone was LeBron James’s first coach for five years with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He praised James for not giving up and vowing to do the work needed to become a great player.
“When I talk about LeBron, I often talk about stories you hear about awesome guys who work really hard. Could it be that he’s a really great athlete? Not only is he a great athlete, but he also has 40,000 points because he is very skilled and works hard to improve his body, skills, and game.
Both James’s NBA rivals and coworkers respect and admire him now that he has done what he was supposed to do. What the league is seeing is one of a kind, and they shouldn’t take it for granted.
