Luka Doncic’s new vehicle is as intimidating as his game.
The Dallas Mavericks star drew attention last week when he drove up to the American Airlines Arena in an Apocalypse Manufacturing Hellfire. It is not uncommon to see an athlete driving an exotic vehicle—especially one who will make over $37 million this season—but the 23-year-old’s 6×6 brings it to a new level.
This is not the first time we have featured one of Apocalypse’s super trucks here. And with good reason. They are among the most ludicrous vehicles available for purchase in the United States today. Essentially, the Florida business takes an already crazy bruiser—such as the Ram TRX or Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen—and makes it even more beastly by expanding it out, adding another set of wheels, and replacing the engine with something even more powerful.
The Hellfire is based on the Jeep Gladiator, Stellantis-owned brand’s most intimidating 4×4. Apocalypse increased the boxy truck’s bed length by 2.3 feet, resulting in a modified vehicle that measures 20.5 feet bumper to bumper. That is just the beginning; it was also attached with another axle and hoisted to a height of 6.75 feet, which is slightly taller than the player himself. To complete the look, the car was outfitted with a steel bumper, winch, and angular fenders, as well as three pieces of matte black Kevlar armor.
With the exception of a new set of wheels, the most significant change is under the hood. There is a Chevrolet LS3 engine, similar to the one seen in the sixth-generation Corvette. Apocalypse claims to be capable of producing around 500 horsepower, all of which is routed to the vehicle’s six wheels via automatic transmission.
According to TMZ, Doncic discovered the 6×6 on TikTok and approached the company to get one. The company claims the rough beast starts at $150,000, but the website says the all-star paid closer to $250,000 for his. That is a large money, but it demonstrates that he cares about what he drives.
That should not come as a big surprise. Earlier this year, Doncic arrived at the arena in a superbly restored first-generation Chevrolet Camaro painted metallic blue. Who knows what he will drive next, but we can guarantee it will be something amazing.
