‘CRAZY’: Giannis Antetokounmpo admits he almost RETIRED due to the ‘pressure’ of his $228m, five-year contract extension, reveɑlᎥng he thought ‘you can take that money and shove it’

Giannis Antetokounmpo, a top player for the Milwaukee Bucks, reportedly acknowledged that he thought of retiring in 2020.

Antetokounmpo stated that he began to think about his future because of the pressure of agreeing to a $228 million, five-year contract extension.

Antetokounmpo told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, “That’s a lot of pressure.”  Experiencing that You have to play like the greatest if you want to be the best.

“You must practice as much as possible.” You must project the finest possible self-image. it is difficult. I was prepared to give up on the game in 2020.

The season prior to signing the contract, he became just the third player in league history to earn both MVP and Defensive Player awards. At the time, the agreement was the highest in NBA history.

“It seems like everyone thinks I’m crazy,” Antetokounmpo remarked. 

“You want to walk away from the game and all that money? You just signed the largest contract in NBA history.”

“Dude, feel free to stuff that cash into your… I apologize for the profanity I used. 

Choosing not to retire, Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to their first NBA Finals championship in fifty years. 

That year, he not only earned Finals MVP, but also demonstrated that he was worth every cent of the contract that had been bothering him.

Antetokounmpo made NBA history this season by being the first player to average over 30 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and more while shooting over 55 percent from the field.

His statistics were 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 55.3 percent from the field on average. He also contributed to the Bucks winning the Eastern Conference title. 

Milwaukee will play the club that advances from the play-in round between the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, and Toronto Raptors to the conference’s eighth seed.
