Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks put on another outstanding performance, helping his team defeat the Sacramento Kings 132–96. The Dallas Mavericks have already won five straight games.
The NBA star also praised teammate Kyrie Irving during the news conference held after the game.
In the game against Sacramento, Doncic finished with 28 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists. Dallas is currently sixth in the Western Conference standings and is riding a 9-1 run. Dallas trails the fifth-place Pelicans by just one game.
Fans were thrilled to see Irving, an eight-time All-Star and one of the finest shooters in the NBA, join Dallas last year, thinking that he and Luka Doncic may become another “double-act” in the NBA.
This year, those dreams have come true. Irving finished the game with 24 points, three rebounds, and eight assists against the Kings. With 22 points, Tim Hardaway Jr. provided them with valuable assistance.
Doncic learned after the victory that their coach, Jason Kidd, had likened him and Irving to Superman and Batman right before the game.
Doncic offered his own interpretation of the superhero allusion, saying he was Irving’s sidekick. “Batman is him. My name is Robin. Nope, dude, absolutely incredible. It is incredible to have him on the squad, Doncic remarked.
Tuesday’s victory gave the Dallas Mavericks their fifth straight win and two very important points.
They finished in sixth place going into the match. The Sacramento Kings, on the other hand, are currently seventh after falling to the Mavericks after winning their first two games.
Teams can bypass the dreadful play-in tournament and go straight to the playoffs with a top six finish.
Throughout the whole four quarters of their game against Sacramento, the Mavericks led in points scored. Coach Jason Kidd discussed his team’s improved play after the victory and emphasized that they are peaking right before the playoffs.
On Sunday night, Dallas will play the Houston Rockets. Despite having a sluggish start and now sitting in 11th place in the Western Conference, Houston is on a 10-0 streak.
