The visiting Dallas Mavericks defeated the Houston Rockets 125-107 on Sunday, with Luka Doncic matching his career high of nine 3-pointers and finishing with 47 points. This victory increased the Mavericks’ winning streak to seven games.
The Rockets’ 11-game winning streak was ended by Dallas (45-29), who led by as much as 29 points because to Doncic’s 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Doncic shot 18 of 30 from the field and 9 of 16 from three points.
With 13 of 38 (34.2%) 3-pointers made, Houston (38–36) shot 42.4 percent from the field. For the Rockets, it was just their second defeat in as many games this month.
For Dallas, which has won 11 of its past 12 games, Kyrie Irving scored 24 points, Dante Exum added 13, and P.J. Washington finished with 12. The Mavericks made 24 of 47 (31.1%) three-pointers.
With five 3-pointers, Jabari Smith Jr. tied his career high and scored 28 points to lead Houston. A total of 16 points were scored by Aaron Holiday, 13 by Cam Whitmore, 12 by Jalen Green, 11 by Jock Landale, and 10 by Fred VanVleet with seven assists.
Doncic scored 22 points in the first quarter to help Dallas take a 36-24 lead. He set the tone early. Doncic finished the quarter with eight rebounds, four assists, and five of seven points from outside the arc.
After the Mavericks closed the first half on a 19-8 surge, Doncic finished with 32 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. At the half, the Mavericks led 66-45.
For the half, Dallas made 13 of 24 (54.2%) 3-pointers, while Houston was only able to shoot 34.9 percent from the field and 4 of 17 (23.5%) from beyond the arc.
After Houston went on a 13-4 run to end the third quarter with a 91-73 lead, the Mavericks swiftly reclaimed possession and put an end to the Rockets’ hopes of a comeback.
Due to an injury to his right lower leg, Mavericks forward Dereck Lively II left the game in the third quarter and did not come back.
