On the court, Anthony Davis has formed friendships that he is thankful for.
The 26-year-old NBA player, who was moved to the Los Angeles Lakers during the summer, talks candidly with Haute Living about his friendship with LeBron James, his new teammate, for the magazine’s November cover story.
Davis told the magazine, “I had not really thought about [doing anything Hollywood-related]; basketball is my focus,” and he will appear in James’ upcoming reboot of Space Jam.
“LeBron and I are very close, obviously, and he asked if I wanted to be in a movie with him,” Davis says. “I jumped on board because I felt like it was a cool opportunity, and Space Jam is one of my favorite movies.”
In the course of the interview, Davis also discusses moving to California for his new squad after leaving New Orleans, saying, “[Los Angeles] is just somewhere I wanted to be.” I wanted to take advantage of all the off-court commercial options that this place offered. I recently moved here for a year after falling in love with the city.
“I believe God gives each person a unique gift, and I believe this is my gift, my calling,” he continues.
“I attempt to enjoy and make the most of it, even though I know that it will undoubtedly end at some point in my future. I want to make sure that I appreciate it and have fun with it while I can, thus I am going to do all in my power to ensure a happy ending for as long as I am here in Los Angeles.
According to Davis, he is in the Californian city to “help the team win,” and he is aware of when to apply and disregard his work ethic.
“Although I enjoy myself throughout the summer, work takes precedence for me. I do not have time to go play and have fun; I want to be the best version of myself. It is all about work for the season, he explains Haute Living.
