On Friday night, the Mavericks defeated Golden State 108-106, putting a stop to the Warriors’ six-game winning run. P.J. Washington, who had a career night in Dallas, scored the game-winning layup with 4.5 seconds left in regulation while Luka Doncic sat out with a sore knee.

With 32 points, Washington had his best performance since being traded to the Mavericks by Charlotte prior to the trade deadline, while Kyrie Irving contributed 26 points.ImageImagevvvvvvvImage

Holding onto fifth place in the Western Conference, Dallas now has a two-game lead over seventh place, chasing one of the six guaranteed playoff positions.

Golden State failed to win a playoff spot despite Stephen Curry’s 28 points, which included a game-tying jumper with 13 seconds remaining.

The opportunity to secure at least 10th place in the Western Conference was presented to the Warriors when Houston was defeated 119-104 by Miami. The Warriors, on the other hand, had their five-game road winning streak snapped, and they can only secure a spot in the play-in round if either Houston loses or they win.

As a result of schedule juggling caused by the postponement of two games for Golden State following the death of assistant coach Dejan Milojevic in January, the game was moved back three days, meaning both teams were ending a back-to-back.
