Stephen Curry runs, but he’s not a runner.
In the regular season alone, the three-time NBA champion and two-time league MVP runs over 2.5 miles per game, or over eight marathons. The cumulative mileage from pre-, during, and post-season training and off-season workouts is incalculable.
Considering this, the collaboration between Curry and Under Armour to create the exceptional Curry Flow Go running shoe was inevitable. Similar to the basketball sneaker Curry Flow 9, these sneakers are performance-focused and lightweight, which makes them perfect for prolonged training sessions.
When he’s not playing on the court, Stephen “trains in running products,” according to Curry Brand vice president Ryan Drew. I sum up. It then occurred to him to create a running shoe under the Curry Brand that would mirror his other products in terms of appearance and functionality.
The Flow of Curry Go’s powerful and streamlined design grabs attention. Curry wore the shoe for the first time and fell head over heels in love.
Under Armour’s senior merchant for global merchandising, Steve Segears, claims that “as soon as he got a sample, he used it.” The sneaker won’t be released for another eight or nine months. I almost called him to tell him that. However, the ardor for that natural reaction is unbearably intense.
Designer of footwear Ed Wallace wants his designs to compel you to “put them on now.” Making the sneaker appear quick was the second component. Wallace says that in an attempt to increase the object’s speed, he incorporated aerodynamic features and texturing. “That was significant because even just looking at the outline gives the impression of speed.”
The ultimate goal was to create a sneaker that would enhance Curry’s natural gait. Curry can make quick, multidirectional cutbacks and evade opponents with his basketball shoes of the same name thanks to Under Armour’s Flow traction technology. Curry, the NBA 3-point record holder, said that Under Armour’s revolutionary technology has “absolutely made an impact on my ability to get through an NBA season” and voiced his optimism about Flow’s development.
The Curry Flow Go running shoe maximizes running performance by utilizing a slightly modified UA Flow midsole that offers the same level of comfort and traction as the technology found in the Curry Flow 9 basketball shoe.
Curry’s prior faith in Under Armour’s Flow technology inspired the design team to prioritize the shoe’s upper for esthetic reasons.
Wallace said that the footwear would be more responsive and comfortable with flow. Technology-wise, the changeover was seamless. The next task was to make sure Stephen fit comfortably in the sneaker while running.
