Myles Turner achieved a total of 29 points, while Tyrese Haliburton contributed 24 points. The Indiana Pacers set a new franchise playoff record by making 22 successful 3-point shots. As a result, they secured a 126-113 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday night.
The Pacers have gained a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series following their victory. If Indiana wins against Milwaukee on Tuesday, they will move to the Eastern Conference semifinals for the first time since 2014. Indiana has won three consecutive games after losing the first one.
In their ongoing effort to prevent a consecutive first-round elimination, the Bucks have achieved a 7-2 record against the Indiana team this season.
Haliburton scored a new personal best in scoring for the second consecutive game in the playoffs, while Turner equaled his previous career high that he had attained on Friday night in the overtime triumph. Despite the absence of two injured All-Stars, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, Turner contributed nine rebounds and four assists against the Bucks.
The availability of either player for Game 5 is uncertain. Antetokounmpo has been absent from play since April 9th due to a left calf issue. Lillard sustained an injury to his Achilles tendon on Friday evening and subsequently wore a protective walking boot on his right foot over the weekend.
Brook Lopez was the top scorer for the Bucks, contributing 27 points and nine rebounds. Additionally, Khris Middleton had a significant contribution with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.
However, the Bucks’ depth suffered significant blows as Middleton spent a large portion of the second half on the court with four fouls, and forward Bobby Portis Jr. was expelled from the game with 5:01 remaining in the first quarter due to his involvement in a physical altercation with Andrew Nembhard. Portis received two technical fouls during the play, contributing to a total of six technical fouls in the first half.
However, the Pacers encountered difficulties in capitalizing on the situation, concluding the fluctuating first half with a mere 67-64 advantage.
However, following Lopez’s first basket in the third quarter, Haliburton promptly countered with three consecutive 3-pointers, resulting in a 76-66 lead for the Pacers. Indiana maintained their lead and widened the gap to 95-78 in the third quarter with a basket by Obi Toppin, leaving the Bucks unable to fully bounce back.
Milwaukee opened the fourth quarter by scoring seven consecutive baskets, reducing the deficit to 98-92. Indiana responded with a 10-2 scoring streak, increasing their lead to 108-94 with 7:25 remaining in the game. Despite their efforts, the Bucks were unable to reduce the deficit to less than ten points for the remainder of the game.
Nembhard concluded the game with a total of 15 points and nine assists for the Pacers, while Pascal Siakam contributed 13 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
Malik Beasley contributed 20 points to Milwaukee’s score.
